TAST WEEK 8

Chain stitch

Thought I would have a go at a pansy this week.
I used a variety of threads from silk to knitting yarn.
I did a few stitches with magic chain.

TAST Week 7  Detached Chain

Oh this is so much fun. Every time I started I would see other things into it.

I saw foot prints, crocus, daffodils, tulips. I used a combination of stitches. Herringbone, fly, and detached chain.

This combination of chevron stitch and detached chain said walking legs.

Here is my stationary person with Chevron/detached chain legs and detached chain body.

Week 7 detached chain stitch so far.

I have now gone for a 6 inch square. The first three stitches reminded me of bird prints so I went with that. Then I combined  chevron with detached chain. I will try some thicker threads next.

TAST first 6 stitches

Well I have finished and up to date with my TAST I have really enjoyed every one. I have been working on just 3 inch squares. I am feeling a bit more confident and I now want to experiment more with the stitches.
A big thank you to Sharon   (  http://www.pintangle.com/ ) for starting the TAST 2012 and a big thank you to Sadalas  (  http://sadalas.blogspot.com/  ) her stitches are so original, please check out her blog. For the Chevron stitch she mixed Chevron and Cretan stitches together. She also did something amassing with Chevron with two threads. So I had to have a try. I think this is why I now want to work on a larger surface.
The last photo is of all of my stitches so far.
As I am new to TAST and CQJP I thought for the moment that I would use the TAST stitches for my CQJP Crazy Quilt blocks. My first block is completed using January stitches So I think I will use February block with February stitches. See how it goes.

Well I have finished my first crazy quilt. Only a 6inch square. I used only 5 stitches fly, buttonhole, feather, cretan and herringbone stitches from the first month TAST challenge. I have tried to incorporate 2 stitches together in some area's. I am enjoying this whole process. My Mum taught me to sew and a few embroidery stitches as a young girl. I have not used embroidery stitches for such a long time I had 2 sons and apart from a logo's and names on bags it mostly clothing. Looking forward to starting block for February I intent to let my blocks evolve and it will be very interesting to see how they will end on the December block.
