My February CQJP2013 so far still a lot to do.
Not sure what I will use I have so many ideas in my head I will have to make a decision soon.
I have gone for shades of green this month.

CQJP 2013

This is my finished January block.

 I have used Tast link stitches
Knotted feather stitch, Inverted feather stitch, bonnet stitch.
I tried a lattice stitch I think it will work better on an even weave.

   
I crocheted a flower it started of as a butterfly and went a bit wrong so turned it into a flower.

Last weeks work

Flexible Tetrahedron Ring Toy

A member of our group showed us how to make this toy it turns and turns.

This is the same toy from a different angle it is brilliant fun.

 This is where I am at with my crazy quilt I have knotted feather stitch Inverted feather stitch I have had a go at lattice work. 
Need to finish it this week.

Finally photo of my grandchildren and my best friend Poppy a lab cross pointer. She has a grey mussel but only 7 black dogs tend to go grey quickly

free motion quilting

My attempt at Free motion Machine Quilting.

I borrowed a sewing machine from work and had a play. I used a hoop which was a great help. 
I then quilted my sisters birthday wall hanging.

I also made her badge out of some of the scraps of the quilt.

 
 
 Hope she likes them her birthday is on Tuesday.

CQJP naked block
I have been thinking about how I am going do my cqjp 2013.
For the 2012 project I just went month by month. I think I will begin with doing different tonal colours. First block is light blue.

  I will finish my sisters wall hanging this weekend and show you all soon.

Work in Progress
It is my sisters 60th birthday this month and she wanted a "picture" to hang on the wall. I tried drawing a landscape scene, but I am no artist. So I did my usual thing, trawl the internet for inspiration. I found  on you tube  "Alicia Merrett: Contemporary Art Quilt"  I liked it so decided to have a go. 
First Attempt

 

Putting them on a orange/red sheet to show what it would look like with a small amount of complimentary colour, it does lift it.
That was yesterdays attempts and this is todays.

  Still do not think it is quite right so I started to add a bit of colour in the middle. Still not right so re looked at the you tube and I have been taking the log cabin to far. So I will have another go tomorrow.

    

Happy New Year to you all

Well that is it nearly to the end of another year, I have scraped through with only a few close shaves.
I  have made some wonderful friends along the way. It is almost a year since I created this blog, it has helped me to put into words what I love about my sewing. I know this needs to improve, also up dating my blog. These are projects I will be hoping to achieve in the New Year. 
I have so enjoyed all of my sewing project. 
I have caught up with my Tast stitches organised by Sharon at pintangle.  Also completed my 12 CQJP 

The bottom right contains the latest 3 Tast stitches Buttonhole Eyelet Flower, Berry stitch and Knotted Chain Cable. The rest of the CQJP I have used herringbone, french knots portugues border, bonnet and chevron stitches.
Both projects have been wonderful as I have learnt so much. Looking forward to learning a lot more as Sharon is continuing with Tast in a slightly different format.
  
I came second in my first every competition which was organised by Quay Quilters, a local group I belong to.  We needed to select something that reminded us of childhood. I thought so hard and in the end came up with this, can you guess who it is?

  It is a Quillow.      ( Quilt that folds up into a pillow) it has a fleece backing so technically it cannot be called a Quilt,so I am told, as it does not have three layers. I do not care I love them and they are so warm.
Well have you guessed yet? When I was a child we used to go to a fair organised by Old Hertfordians Rugby Club. Called the Yogi Bear Fair. I loved the fair and in the winter months loved to watch the rugby. I was 1 week old when I was taken to my first rugby match my Dad was the captain of Pinner RC at the time, we went every week and as I grew older I used to run up and down the side line trying to keep up with my Dad. When we moved to Ware Dad was a qualified Ref. that was how we got involved with OHRC  They were magical times for me.
